Polka Dot

With bright reds, greens, and yellows, 'Polka Dot' captures a moment in time. Notice the interesting folds and creases in the patterned textiles. Notice Kandinsky's 'Landscape with Red Spots, No. 2' in the background. The unusual use of color and line transform an ordinary, almost drab, moment to a rich smorgasbord of visual information. 'Polka Dot' is an example of the way a boring moment in time can be transformed into something special after it passes through the lens of the artist's eye.

This piece is 9.75 x 21.

Sketchin' on the Ol' Waccom

When I do collage in Photoshop I play around with the different textures to see which ones go together best. I sketch things out as I go on my Waccom. Even though I was taught that it is incorrect to do the majority of the work on your computer (you should have an exact plan sketched out before you go to your computer), for me, especially when I have a project with a lot of creative freedom, I just can't help diving in. The fun and beauty is in the act of creating, not the planning. I always do really quick thumbs for basic layout ideas, but a lot of times I just go for it.
