Alice (Middle Stage)

Here you can see the middle stage of one of my paintings. It is starting to come together. In the studies that I do before I start final illustrations for a book I usually play with layering a lot.

Playing with Eyes—Color and Expression

The eyes are the window to the soul! I've got to get them just right. I'm playing with the color and technique that I will use throughout the book to keep them consistent.

Elle

I worked at Elle for the day on Friday. I comped up some spreads and did the layout for this advertorial that they are going to present to Burt's Bees to promote a new line of products for sensitive skin. I liked the illustrator they used; Yoco. I want to do some more rough fashion-y illustrations to put in my portfolio. That would be awesome to get a job doing illustrations for a Magazine like Elle. The scripty type I used I have never used before. I found it when I was perusing what they had in their font manager; Aphrodite. I love it when scripty type faces have a bunch of really good glyphs. That's why my favorite is probably Semilla, but I wish it came in different weights.
